Inside this maze

More of this disc lies outside the answer than inside it: the solution visits 542 cells and leaves 610 unvisited. A lightly marked result is therefore entirely plausible, even on a worksheet with 48 sectors and 24 rings. The first junction comes after 14 moves, in the fourth ring from the center. From there, the 541-step answer alternates ring crossings and travel around the circle, accumulating 350 direction changes before the outer finish.

Try this page as an exercise in leaving rejected territory alone. Once a branch has been ruled out, mark its entrance rather than shading all of its cells; the unmarked regions do not need to be explored just to make the page look complete. Keep a second copy beside the answer key for reviewing where your route first diverged. This is a suitable choice for a patient solver who enjoys selective exploration rather than the satisfaction of covering most of a grid.

The solution SVG traces the single route from START to FINISH. Use the unmarked PDF for your attempt and keep the answer separate.
