Inside this maze

Of the 240 moves on this answer, 199 follow a change in direction. That is more than four turns for every five passage moves, but the route visits only 26 junctions. Most of the apparent zigzagging is therefore tracing rather than choosing. The first fork appears after 14 moves, at row 3, column 5. The longest run in one direction lasts 4 moves within the 24-by-18 honeycomb.

Try following the opening with a fingertip while naming only the cells that offer an unused branch. This keeps the many sloping corners from turning into unnecessary stops. Later, a rejected passage near the right boundary can carry you 33 moves away from the answer, so actual decisions still deserve a record. The route occupies 241 of the board's 432 cells. A comparison of turns and junctions on the finished copy makes a useful explanation of why a visually busy puzzle does not present a new choice at every bend.
